Dr. Andrew Jones

Andy is an Earth scientist who works at the interface of human and environmental systems. His research uses quantitative models and data analysis to understand climate change and human-Earth system interactions at decision-relevant scales. He collaborates with social scientists and interacts closely with stakeholders to understand how science can more effectively provide actionable insight into strategies for increasing resilience of urban, energy, water, and food systems. He is a research scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory where he leads the Earth Systems and Society Program Domain.  His current projects focus improving the actionability of regional climate information, improving our knowledge of climate risks and solutions in cities, and evaluating climate solutions for water and energy systems. He previously served as the Deputy Director of the Climate Readiness Institute, an organization that facilitates collaboration among urban climate practitioners in the San Francisco Bay Area and scientific experts. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Energy and Resources Group, an interdisciplinary graduate program at the University of California, Berkeley. He is delighted to be part of The ClimateMusic Project because he believes that it is ultimately the story behind the data that inspires action and drives decision-making. He is also an amateur musician.
