About Our November 8th Concert
Redefining Our Relationship To The Natural World
The climate crisis can be overwhelming. It’s easy to feel paralyzed. In our first EcoEcho concert of the 25/26 season, we explore not only technically feasible climate solutions, but also the opportunity to redefine our relationship to the natural world and the underlying assumptions that have brought us to the brink of climate and ecological catastrophe.
The concert will feature live performances of two ClimateMusic compositions, Audyssey and Voice of the Animals, followed by an in-depth conversation including a climate scientist and audience engagement. There will also be a special live youth choir performance of The Be Cool Song by Oakland Interfaith Youth Choir at the end of the event.

About Voice of the Animals
Voice of the Animals explores how climate, biodiversity, and wild lands are closely inter-connected. The piece reflects historical and projected forest loss, focusing on the Amazon and the Congo Basin. Written and performed by the internationally renowned, Grammy-nominated composer and recording artist Scarlet Rivera, it calls on us to reclaim our connection to the natural world and to remember that we are not just spectators – we are the hope and promise for safeguarding the natural world into the distant future. This piece is “A musical journey connecting natural landscapes, climate, and biodiversity”.

About Scarlet Rivera
Scarlet Rivera is a classically trained violinist who broke onto the popular musical scene working with Bob Dylan on his 1976 album Desire, and as part of The Rolling Thunder Review. Dylan’s recognition of Scarlet’s genius as a violinist who played like a lead guitarist led him to include her on five of his multi-platinum albums. Scarlet’s transition to rock music bent all accepted norms, and led to her experimentation with other genres of music, from Rock Fusion and Jazz to Celtic, Latin and New Age and World Music. Her contributions to countless recordings and performances have made a significant impact upon the music of our time. Scarlet has performed with such popular artists as the Indigo Girls, Tracy Chapman, Brandi Carlile, Emmylou Harris, Keb Mo, Joni Mitchell, Albert Lee, Larry Campbell, and John Mayall. Scarlet’s 2023-24 Euro tour featured her latest album Dylan Dreams, which is included as one of nine newly remastered albums just released as her Signature Series, now streaming on all platforms. Scarlet has also just completed a musical collaboration with Viggo Mortensen on his 2024 film ‘The Dead Don’t Hurt’.
About Audyssey
Audyssey is a musical journey exploring climate solutions by Grammy-nominated composer and performer Eduardo Del Signore. It introduces solutions that could limit future warming. Referencing scientific data and model projections for two future pathways, it considers both mitigation and non-mitigation scenarios. It also takes us on a musical and visual journey to landscapes and communities that can be saved or will disappear, depending on how we act in the short-term. Finally, the piece is a meditation on the prospect and opportunity for our species to rediscover a more balanced relationship with the rest of life on Earth.
